red-hot handheld torch is a difficult skill that takes years to master.
But videogame-like instructional aids, including one from VRSim in East Harford, are providing a time- and money-saving training supplement for metalcraft and other industries hungry for skilled labor.
Five of Connecticut’s technical high schools and a Hartford nonprofit have used VRSim’s decade-old virtual welding simulator software and hardware to teach welding basics to more than 1,000 teens and adults, authorities say.
