About Saint Paul College’s Cabinetmaking Program
Saint Paul College offers a comprehensive Cabinetmaking Diploma program designed to equip students with the skills necessary for careers in cabinet manufacturing and custom woodworking. The curriculum covers all phases of cabinet construction, including drafting, material cutting, assembly, finishing, and installation. Students gain hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art shop, working on real-world projects for community partners, such as building furniture and cabinets for nonprofit organizations.
Graduates of the program find employment in various sectors, including kitchen cabinet shops, lumber companies, sash and door factories, store fixture manufacturers, display shops, wood specialty shops, and furniture repair shops. Some alumni have successfully started their own businesses.
Hands-On Learning Enhanced with VR
Spray finishing is a vital skill in cabinetmaking, but traditional training methods come with challenges like high material costs and safety concerns. SimSpray addresses these by offering a realistic virtual environment where students receive real-time feedback on technique. This allows them to correct mistakes, reinforce good habits, and build confidence in their abilities.
Why It Works
SimSpray provides versatile simulations, enabling students to practice various finishing techniques without wasting materials or exposing themselves to hazardous chemicals. This dynamic learning environment not only enhances technical skills but also reduces the environmental impact of training.
Setting Students Up for Success
“Our students are learning the art of spray finishing using our SimSpray VR trainer,” Saint Paul College recently shared on their Facebook page. By incorporating this technology, the college ensures that graduates are well-prepared for real-world challenges in a rapidly evolving industry.
At VRSim, we’re proud to support institutions like Saint Paul College in shaping the next generation of skilled craftsmen. Ready to transform your training program? Contact us to learn more about how SimSpray can elevate your program and prepare your students for success!
